La zona di San Giusto è ricca di bellezze, prima tra tutte la sua CHIESA intitolata ai patroni di Volterra SANTI GIUSTO e CLEMENTE. Il baratro delle Balze, creatosi attraverso i secoli a causa della friabilità del terreno rappresenta un’altra grande attrazione di questa zona della Città. Infatti, il fascino che riesce a trasmettere questo luogo a chi lo osserva lo ha reso oggetto di tante leggende di ogni epoca. Al di là dell’abisso troviamo la BADIA CAMALDOLESE, il più antico cenobio di Volterra, costruita nel 1030/34. Intorno ad essa è possibile vedere esempi della vita camaldolese, come il mulino ed il frantoio. Ai piedi della collina vi è il piccolo Oratorio dedicato alle Sante Martiri volterrane Attinia e Greciniana.
San Giusto is a beautiful area of Volterra dominated by the imposing CHURCH named after the patron saints of Volterra, GIUSTO and CLEMENTE. The outstanding natural beauty and alluring charm of Le Balze(the Crags), the precipitous cliffs formed through the centuries by a series of landslips, has inspired many legends throughout the centuries.
Beyond the precipice stands the CAMALDOLITE ABBEY, the oldest monastery in Volterra built in 1030/34 where you can still admire the remains of the Camaldolite way of life such as the mill and the olive press. At the foot of the hill there is a small chapel dedicated to two local martyrs, Attinia and Greciniana.
